Texture and pattern are all important this autumn/winter. Get it spot-on and embrace both sensory delights with some disc decorations.
Marc Jacobs layered scale-like discs down pencil skirts and figure-hugging dresses, creating a second skin effect in latex and soft leathers. Like mermaid tails, skirts shimmered in light-catching metallics.
Prada played up the geometric shapes of a 1960s inspired collection. Using surface decoration to contrast boxy silhouettes, Muiccia redefined the sequin, using large perspex discs in sixties pop colours, which worked to create more space-race reflections than glammed up sparkle.
At Stella McCartney too, traditional sequins were too glitzy for her ultra feminine collection. Instead, soft silk discs were embroidered on to sheer tops and pencil skirts.
Polka dot patterns accented embellishments. Velour cicles against skin-glimpsing sheers reinforced the textural message, worn as calf socks at Marc Jacobs or as siren-like, side panels down Stella McCartney's femme-fatale black dresses, this is the sexiest way to wear your spots.
